With a focus on minimalistic visuals, a small color palette and unsettling boss encounters, the game delivers a short yet thrilling and spine-chilling experience.
Developed entirely solo, the project challenged me to implement a tutorial system that prioritized gameplay over text, while also honing my skills in art direction and narrative design.

The theme for the Boss Rush 2024 GameJam was “Exchange” which opened up a lot of opportunities for creative exploration.
In Whispering Flames, this theme is displayed in the core attack mechanics, where each attack costs sanity, comparable to a traditional HP bar. Moreover, the introduction of sister/brother forms delves deeper into the theme, offering players with a strategic choice: in sister form, only basic attacks consume sanity, while in brother form, sanity drains continuously but damage output doubles.
